CROSS COUNTRYVery few athletes specialize in cross-country; the majority are road athletes who use cross-country to improve speed, strength and stamina. The same can be said for track athletes who also use cross-country to keep up their fitness levels during the off-season. The cross-country season normally starts in March and runs through to August, comprising of nine league meetings and culminating in a final meeting, which serves as the Kwa Zulu - Natal Championship Event. Perhaps it should be noted that the top track and field athletes and marathoners from around the world all use cross country as part of their training regimen.
